Ever think of doing a tour through your guitar collection?
I’m ebaying some stuff now, once that’s sorted out I might.
i am a long time QC reader and huge fan. i especially can’t wait to see how things advance with marigold and dale. my question actually regards alcohol. i am looking to experience a good whiskey. what would your recommendations be?
Depends what kind of whiskey you’re looking for. Woodford Reserve is my favorite bourbon. If you’re talking single-malt Scotch, Lagavulin 16 is pricey but worth every dime. Bulleit Rye is maybe my favorite hard liquor of all time. I remember it fondly.
Hey, so I noticed through stalking that you went to Hampshire College. I’ve been looking there and it looks like a school that I’d really like, but my dad is really worried about me being able to get a job and is hesitant about paying for it. How was your experience there and is there anything that I could tell him to help convince him?
Hampshire is what you make of it. Lots of folks just coast through, lots more folks drop out or transfer, but a few kids really bust their asses and make the most of it (I was about halfway between coasting and busting my ass). I use the tools I learned at Hampshire every single day. It is really fucking expensive though.
If you ever were given the chance to write a QC movie or tv show, would you want it to be a direct adaptation of the comic, or would it be the same characters, just new stories?
Probably a combination of both.
A few weeks ago, maybe longer, Faye was wearing a shirt that said “Geek (Save Ends)”. I have not been able to stop wishing a t-shirt like that exists since. And I’ve tried to find one in so many places. Would you ever consider making that an item in the QC shop?
That was Marigold, and you can buy one now!
I’ve been experiencing a lot of wrist/finger joint/forearm discomfort from computer usage, and have had to cut back on recreational activities so I can complete my homework assignments without getting too sore. Have you ever experienced this, and are there any remedies you suggest?
Ergonomic keyboard and mouse, or perhaps a Wacom tablet instead of a mouse.
So this tweet got me wondering: “@jephjacques: I just got to play a Gibson SG from the 1960s. Holy shit.” I sang for 20 years, so my ear’s pretty good, but I’ve never played an instrument. What is it that makes the SG so fantastic? If I were to listen to you playing the same lick, first on the SG and then on one of your other guitars, would I hear the difference? Or is it strictly in the feel of the instrument? Or a little of both?
It’s both. Wood and pickups that have aged for 50 years have a warmth to their tone that you just can’t replicate any other way. And a guitar with half a century’s worth of playing time is going to be ridiculously well broken-in.
I know you probably get asked this all the time, but how do you find all the music you get into? I listen and research all the time but I can never find good stuff like you can.
I use the same resources as everybody else (music blogs, word of mouth, invite-only music sharing websites), but I also have a very good idea of what I like and don’t like, so I’m pretty good at only grabbing stuff that ends up impressing me.
With regards to QC, what are some of the most irritating questions you can be asked? (E.g. where has character x gone, when will he/she be back.)
I am really tired of “what is going to happen to [character]?” I’M NOT TELLING YOU, GEEZ
so who are the people involved in recording playing deathmole stuff ? or is i just you and some instruments and software?
It’s just me and a bunch of guitars and my computer.
Quick Question Jeph: David Lynch’s 1984 feature film or the 2000 Sci-Fi miniseries? Which adaptation of Dune do you prefer? P.S. Loved the Dune sketches any chance for a Baron Harkonnen one?
Lynch, and eventually.
do you ever struggle with procrastination problems, and if so do you have any useful advice for dealing with procrastination/motivation/rogue attention span issues?
oh hey look I am answering tumblr questions instead of writing a script right now
Have you ever thought about having a buffer for the comic?
Yes.
Inspired by your latest comic, which do you find more difficult to draw “realistically”: hands or feet?
Neither is more difficult to draw, but I have less practice with feet.
How do you come up with names for your supporting characters?
Blood sacrifice
Would you say doing comics vertically works out better for making a webcomic as opposed to doing it horizontally? I ask cause I’m wanting to start working on one but the size of the panels I would like to use would make for a ridiculous side scroll if I decided to do it horizontally. Also love the comic keep it up! :D
People hate scrolling horizontally.
wow, I actualy already lived today’s comic(2059) from elioth’s point of view… did that situation ever happend to you from any of the caracters perspective?
I’ve been in Marten’s current situation before.
